    POWER FLOW CALCULATION TIME

    When you prepare to buy the UPS and batteries for use in the days of temporary power failure, you need to consider the following three factors :

    - Determine the total capacity of the entire load

    - The time it takes to use

    - Capacity of the battery

    The steps and formulas commonly used to calculate as follows :

    Step 1 : Calculate the total capacity of the actual use , you may refer to the table refer to the capacity of some popular devices in the home office and in Table 1. When you lose power should only be used for devices real need , do not use the facilities as grid such as using fans instead of air conditioning, switch off the refrigerator or electric cooking grills .

    Step 2 : Calculate the UPS capacity , if the appliance use only included the electronic devices with small starting current as LCDs , computer , TV , lights, fans , the capacity of the UPS should be greater 1.5 times more than the actual total capacity calculated in Step 1. If the device is large inrush currents such as air conditioning , refrigerator , laser printer , the pump capacity of UPS minimum 2 times total capacity , if the number of these devices may require more than 2.5 or 3 times the total capacity .

    Step 3 : Determine the time using the system , depending on demand and the actual number of hours of power outages during the day , we calculated to advise you to choose the device and save the most reasonable .

    Step 4 : Apply the formula to calculate using one of the following formulas :

    AH = (T * W) / (V * pf)

    To calculate the total battery capacity ( AH ) if a predetermined time using the system ( T ) , total power ( W ) , the voltage of the load ( V ) , pf = 0.7 or 0.8 , depending on the type UPS

    T = (AH * V * pf) / W

    To calculate the operating time ( T ) of the system if the total capacity of the battery AH , the total capacity of the device ( W ) , the voltage of the load ( V ) , pf = 0.7 or 0.8 , depending on the type UPS

    • T : The time it takes the power of the system

    • W : The total power consumption of the system

    • V : The voltage of the battery charging circuit ( average number x 12Vol )

    • AH : Capacity of battery

    • pf : Coefficient of UPS capacity : 0.7 or 0.8 usually

    Specific examples :

    Selecting UPS and battery for vegetarian 2 laptops , 1 laser printer 1 fax machines , networks , 2 lamp motif 1m20 , 1 the office computer , 1 PBX using an 8-hour power blackout ( Assuming outage 1 day ) .

    Step 1 : The actual capacity = (2 * 110) + 250 + 45+ 10 + (2 * 40) + 300 + 45 = 950W

    Step 2 : W = 950 * 1.5 = 1425W UPS power to choose between 1400W , so should choose UPS 2000VA ( SANTAK C2KS ) , 96V is suitable

    Step 3 : On demand , time of use T = 8 hours.

    Step 4 : Storage battery 1 is calculated by the formula

     

    • The actual capacity: AH = (8 * 950) / (96 * 0.7) = 113Ah. So you need to buy at least 8 battery 120Ah / 12V is required guarantee.

    • The peak power: AH = (8 * 1400) / (96 * 0.7) = 166Ah. So you need to buy at least 8 battery 150Ah / 12V is required guarantee.

    • Then choose buy batteries How to fit? If you use the right capacity and actual equipment used to make sure 8h / day, only eight 120Ah battery, if you want to generate a few more devices, you should choose 8 150Ah battery type to ensure no overloaded.
